I think there is a fear of anything new and that it's going to take over the old "traditional" things and somehow make everything horrible. What a cycle that keeps perpetuating. Nothing wrong with being on the internet and I'm tired of everything being labeled an addiction or a disorder! LOVE this! :-) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5525901226631334920.post-33821633271836048702012-10-08T18:13:48.737-06:002012-10-08T18:13:48.737-06:00I proudly embrace my Skype whoredom. :) And it...I proudly embrace my Skype whoredom. :) And it's interesting to think of -- well, and experience -- the dynamics of a long-distance relationship, particularly vis-a-vis technology, (the lack of) physicality, etc.

Interestingly, I found out last week that approximately 1/3 of seniors tweet or follow tweets. There are some older peeps who embrace some of these new technologies, or at least the benefits of them. But yeah, I think a distrust of links between technology and intrapersonal/interpersonal interactions still challenges a lot of folks, particularly those less familiar with the sheer ubiquity and scope of the Internet.Elle Hillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01229738848993891033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5525901226631334920.post-56656234068745421332012-10-08T12:00:03.104-06:002012-10-08T12:00:03.104-06:00OMG! You took the words right out of my mouth! Wel...OMG! You took the words right out of my mouth! Well - some of them anyway. I think this whole "internet addiction" thing is naught more than some old people tsk-tsking at new social trends they cannot keep up with. Internet connection - both kinds - is just a new way of doing business. It is not something scary, except to those who don't - who can't - get it.

Well - let me qualify that by saying that I am slightly frightened that you skype for ten hours a day. OMFG. That's hormones, tho, and unconsciously mirrors a future where our BFFs and GFs and lovers will be much father away than Florida. The old folks just don't get it.
Lauri J Owenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11915434024514573480noreply@blogger.com
